how it works and FAQs

How Does It Work?

This is easy.

1) Check me out - Right at the beginning, let's make sure I'm the right person. When you choose a writer, it can make wonders happen with your business. Look at my portfolio and services page to ensure we're on the same level.

2) Contact me - Send me a message, and we can either have a quick chat via email or jump on a, dare I say, phone or video call – whatever your preference. I'm super friendly and will explain everything you need to know.

3) Work out the details - We'll discuss the project's timeframes, budgets, and expectations. I even have a handy questionnaire to help us understand precisely what you need.

4) Quote time - Once we've chatted, I'll send you a quote with the costs. All my projects start with a 50% deposit, with an estimated timeframe of deliverables. If it's a big job, we can discuss a payment schedule, if that works better for both of us.

5) Sign the contract - Once we're both happy and good to go, I'll send you a contract to sign, and that's it. Simple.

How Much Does It Cost?

My day rate is £300, and I use that to calculate project rates, depending on the project's requirements, time scale, scope, and complexity.

How Long Does It Take?

We’ll agree on a reasonable estimate of the project length and timeframe. Sometimes, unexpected occurrences happen from both ends. As long as this is communicated between us, everything will be groovy.

What Type of Projects Can I Do?

The primary types of projects I deliver are:

  • SEO Blog/article posts and feature articles

  • Web copy and landing pages

  • Product descriptions

  • Marketing emails - newsletters, sales offers, etc.

  • Press releases - products, services, events, albums, adverts

  • Tag lines and short-form copy

  • Meta descriptions

However, I've worked in other areas, such as social media posts and video scripts. All you have to do is ask.

What Type of Specialist Areas Do I Work In?

I do have specialist areas I work in – music, art, culture, automotive, e-commerce, and lifestyle. But I've worked with many other niches, producing high-end, top-rated copy for delighted customers. This includes bidets, beauty products, electric scooters, F1, and rugby, to name just a few. Sometimes, with less familiar topics, it's more about how I clicked well with the client than the niche.

What is my background?

I have qualifications in marketing and copywriting awarded by the CIM (Charted Institute of Marketing). I worked for several years as Head of Merchandising for a UK national music retail company, writing SEO-rich product descriptions, blogs, web copy, and category content, and leading a team of three talented copywriters. I use SEO-focused best practices, keyword research, and employ detailed subject research. I've freelanced since 2021, gathering fantastic clients and working on exciting and interesting projects.

What about AI like ChatGPT?

I use ChatGPT and other AI creators as a tool, mainly for initial research and brainstorming ideas and frameworks. Yes, you can get it to write blogs very quickly. However, the content is often bland, generic, and full of factual errors (although it can be fun to have a play around with!). While impressive, it won’t showcase your brand's personality in the way that a human writer can.

And now Google is learning how to spot AI content and push it further down the rankings (yes, even when it’s been paraphrased and passes those online AI detection tools).

What’s It Like Working With Me?

I love working with businesses, especially SMEs and sole traders, supporting you in growing and reaching your goals. I'm friendly and helpful – always trying to make sure that you're looked after. Although I have strict working hours, I'll bend over backwards for pleasant and lovely clients when I can.

What if I Change My Mind or Need to Cancel the Project?

Life can throw spanners in the works from time to time, and I understand that sometimes things just don't go how you expect. So, firstly, contact me and let me know the issue. Then, if you need to pause the project for some time or cancel it altogether, we can reach an easy agreement that works for both of us.

Can I Book You for a Single Project?

Yes, you can. You can book me for a single paragraph if you like.

Can I work with you on a retainer?

Yes, you can. We can work out the details and set something up easily.

How Can We Stay in Touch?

Postcards, letters, and carrier pigeons are acceptable, but I prefer email, phone and video calls.
